He is survived by: his wife Sharlene Bartels; his daughters, Deb Donovan (Rick), Sue Higgins (Tim) of Kearney, NE and Julie Knippelmeyer of Lincoln, NE.; his grandchildren, Nick Higgins (Alex), Brandon Donovan (Erica), Katie Nealon (Matt), Tyson Knippelmeyer (Cindy), Connor Donovan (Ashlyn Fitch), Calen Higgins and Corbin Knippelmeyer; and his great grandchildren, Asher, Nouri Knippelmeyer, Quinn Nealon, Lucia Higgins and Bailey Donovan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to HoriSun Hospice and Christ Lutheran Church School.
