He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Engel and Rita Engel (Conradt); his siblings, Gary, John and Anita; and his son Jeremy.

He is survived by: his wife Lori; his sons, Rob Engel (Melissa) of Randolph and Rich Engel of Omaha; his stepchildren, Chris Horstman (Jessica) of Omaha and Kelli Mungin of Omaha; his grandchildren, Tre, Erin, Aaliyah, Ryan, Ella, Charlie, Samuel, Sapphira and Riviera; and his siblings, Teresa Werth (Roger), Don Engel (Sylvia), Lora Swett (Dave), Larry Engel (Jeanne) and Rita Westwood (Paul). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
