We announce the death of Michael L. Hier of Lincoln, Nebraska, born in Crete, Nebraska, who passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 78. Michael will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Hier and Evelyn Hier (Chrastil); his siblings, Glade Hier and Ginny Fry; his daughter April Michelle Hier; his siblings-in-law, Donnabelle Hier and William Dodds; and his nieces, Sherrie Scheinost and Madelynn Anderson.

He is survived by: his children, Tim Hier (Leslie), Teresa Porter and Danny Hier; his siblings, Bernie Hier, Shari Hier-Duffin and Caroline Anderson (Rex); his grandchildren, Shannon Hier, Jennifer Schroeder (Ben), Dylan Hier, Carson Collins (Kodey), Aaron Collins (Kristin) and Alexandria Collins; his close friend Ron Laird; and his aunts, Helen Hier and Laurie Chrastil.
