She was predeceased by: her parents, John Vail and Kathleen Vail (Carroll); and her siblings, Alex (Laura) and Gloria Muniz. She is survived by: her husband Joe Lopez; her daughter Nicole Schaecher (late Neil); her grandsons, Owen and Kendric; and her siblings, Tim (Cammie), Terry (Mary Ann), Kevin (Denise), Mary Kay Yankton (Geno), Tony (late Alicia), Louie (Mary), Henry (Linda), Frank (Tammy), Alice Herrera (late Luis), Angie, Lucy Vera (Ernie), Jane Stark (late Chuck), Mary Auman (Bob) and Lori Matthiessen (late Terry).

Under her leadership the policies implemented in response to the pandemic resulted in one of the lowest death rates in the state while having one of the highest vaccination rates. After the pandemic, Pat focused initiatives including the Youth Substance Use Prevention Project and the Family Connection program which provides newborns and families access to public health nurses.

In lieu of flowers financial contributions can be made to the Lancaster County Medical Society Foundation (LCMS Foundation) for the Pat Lopez BSN scholarship, her grandsons education fund or a charity of your choice.
