She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Wright Hiatt and Mae Deck Hiatt; her former husband Roger K. Phipps (Louis M. Thompson); her stepchildren, Louis Thompson and Glenda Thompson Knight; her brother Robert Hiatt; and her half-sister Donna Hiatt Rippeteau (Darrell).
She is survived by: her children, Becky Lorenzen (Rick), Grant Phipps (Patsy) and Nancy Phipps Bayerle; her stepchildren, Margaret Ann Trail, Jerome Thompson and Carol Abbott; and her sister-in-law Mary Hiatt. She is also survived by seven grandsons, eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ames Public Library Friends Foundation (Children's Programs).
