He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Brooks Sr. and Hybernia Reed Brooks; his siblings, Earline Foster, Freddie Mae Brooks, Fre and Brooks Jr.; his children-in-law, James Nelson and Dawn Brooks; and his grandson Joshua Brooks.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Brooks-Nelson of Lincoln, Sandra Brooks-Woods (Nathan) of Lincoln, Valencia Richardson of College Park, Georgia, Sterling Brooks Jr. (Mylene) of Lincoln, George Brooks of Lincoln and Raynard Brooks of Lincoln; and his sisters, Bettie Grey, Rosie Lyle and Elgertha Robinson of Cleveland. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
