He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Teddy Sever and Nettie Luella Hovland (Njos); his son Steven (Melanie Renfrew); his grandchildren, Harrison, Alexander Hovland and Mackenzie Hovland; his son Gregory (Jenifer Ulrich); his granddaughter Ulrike (Joshua Dosdall); and his great grandchildren, Melody and Silas Dosdall.
