It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verlene Carlson Hancock (Lincoln, Nebraska), who passed away on January 13, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Schmidt and Hilda Schmidt; her husbands, Orlo Carlson and Jim Hancock; her brother Lawrence; and her siblings-in-law, Robert Mertz, Dolores Harms, Wilma Carlson and Phyllis Schmidt.

She is survived by: her children, Ron of Lincoln, Tony (Nancy) of Lincoln, Scott (Janet) of Lincoln and Connie Peterson (Tony) of Lincoln; her grandchildren, Amanda, Nick, Allison, Daniel, Shea, Andrew and Katelyn; and her great grandchildren, Taylor, Kaydence, Breckin, Kensley, Bostyn, Decker, Archie, Sylvie, Noah, Charlotte, Henry and Tucker.

The family wishes to thank St. Croix Hospice and High Plains Alzheimer Center for their dedication, support and love throughout her final years.
