He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman A. "Burkie" Burkholder and Beulah H. Burkholder (Shaffer); his in-laws, Charles and June Burkey (Schrader); his siblings-in-law, Gale Davis, Maynard Dunse, Larry Burkey, Brian Burkey, Bob Acker, Dot Stehl (Lloyd), Susan Anderson (Ron) and Evonne Burkholder; and his nephew Paul Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Burkholder of Loomis; his children, Amy Crisman (Roger) of Hastings, Nebraska and Daniel Burkholder (Laura) of Hastings; his grandsons, Sam Crisman, Cameron and Evan Burkholder; his siblings, Art Burkholder of North Platte, Nebraska and Linda Davis of Kearney, Nebraska; and his siblings-in-law, Roberta Dunse of Minden, Nebraka, Peggy Kahler (Lynn Otto) of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Bill Burkey (Jan Lindgren) of Lincoln, Beverly Binning (David) of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Mary Acker of Edgerton, Missouri. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.
