With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Stella Cheek (Maxwell, Nebraska), who passed away on January 31, 2022 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her husband Merle; her parents, Francis Donovan and Mamie Donovan; and her siblings, Walter, Paul, Clyde Donovan and Lois Grouns.

She is survived by : her children, George Cheek (Janice) of Maxwell, Warren Cheek (Carol) of LaGrange, WY, Lavon Cheek of Steamboat Springs, CO and Donna Mahnken (Gary) of North Platte; her grandchildren, Kris Cheek (Natalie), Tara Kautz (Jeff), Silas Cheek (Amanda), Elaine Cheek (Nora), Charissa Cole (Ethan), Michael Mahnken (Cassandra) and Katie Mahnken; her great grandchildren, Taylor, Jocelyn, Kristyn, Kristopher, Josiah, Kate, Emma, Isaac, Isabella and Maddox; her sisters, Ellie Nass (Tony) of Mankato, MN and Mamie Johnson of George, IA; and her sister-in-law Shirley Donovan of Beaver City.

“I was sad to hear that Stella passed away. I have enjoyed sharing letters (each spring in response to our alumni banquet invitations) with Stella for several years. Certainly the Donavon family was beloved by my parents, Harold and Charlotte Magnuson. You all have been a blessing to me throughout my life.”
