It is with sadness that the passing of Vickie L Cook (McCook, Nebraska) is shared. Vickie, born on March 10, 1955, passed away on October 23, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Vickie will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Vickie by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Vickie is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Vickie’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bob L. and Neva (Merlin Cook); her son Wayne Cook; and her sister Brenda Smith. She is survived by: her spouse Merlin A. Cook; her daughter Cristy Laya (Joshua) of Sacramento, CA; her daughter-in-law Jenny Doescher of Beemer, NE; and her grandson Emmett Laya. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home (305 W C St, McCook, NE 69001). The inurnment will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Oberlin Cemetery (888 Dd Ln, Oberlin, KS 67749).
