It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Weitzel (Mitchell, Nebraska), who passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil Harmon and Dorothy Harmon (Roberts); her brother Donald Harmon; her sister-in-law Mariann; her brother Edward Harmon; and her husbands, George Leach and Elwood Weitzel.
She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey Weitzel (Susan), Craig Weitzel (Cindy), Kevin Weitzel (Donna), Wendy Lewandowski (Jay Neibauer) and Eric Weitzel (Carree). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Jones Mortuary (1532 14th St, Mitchell, NE 69357). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Mitchell Methodist Church (1845 Broadway, Mitchell, NE 69357).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to The Vine United Methodist Church in Mitchell, Nebraska or donor's choice.
