He was predeceased by : his parents, Lewis Royal and Anna Royal (Van Ackern); his brother John Royal; and his great grandchildren, Everett and Kolter Tjaden.

He is survived by : his wife Dorothy Royal of Nebr. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Benedict's Catholic Church (411 5th Rue, Nebraska City, NE 68410). A rosary was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
