He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mead and Ethel Mead (Hathaway); his spouse Shirley Claudine Lechner; his son Thomas O. Mead; his grandson Bryan Mead; his great grandchild Robert Gregory Mead; and his sisters, Norma and Billie.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert "Bob" Mead (Loretta) of El Mirage, AZ and Bradley Mead (Susan) of Nebr; his daughter-in-law Ann Marie Mead of Ft. Collins, CO; and his sisters-in-law, Glen and Peggy Lechner of Nebr. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother.

Memorials may be given to the Leukemia Foundation in his memory.
