He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Bruening and Carole Bruening (Hausmann); and his wife Rita Jean Rosener. He is survived by: his children, Dawn Boutch (Ron) of Harrisburg, Gina Taschuk (Terry) of Elko, Deb Obester (Jason) of Hollister, Cindy Gale (Derek) of Newcastle, Nebraska, Steven Bruening of Newcastle, Dennis Bruening (Heather) of Newcastle and Nathan Bruening (Jackie) of Newcastle; and his brothers, John Bruening (Nancy), Jerry Bruening (Mary) and Joe Bruening (Olga). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Formerly Morningside Assembly of God (4310 Old Lakeport Rd, Sioux City, IA 51106).
Rich was also proud of the many times he was able to help others through blood donation, something that held special meaning to him.
