It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jay Mitchell of Norfolk, Nebraska, who passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Mitchell (Jorgensen) and Joseph Mitchell; his former wife Patsy Schaefer; his son Jeffrey Mitchell; and his brothers, Wilbur Mitchell (Davine) and John "Jack" Mitchell.

He is survived by: his wife Judith Mitchell (Halsey) of Norfolk, NE; his children, Kathryn Henderson (Sonny) of Clermont, FL, James Mitchell (Sandra) of Cleveland, TN, Patricia Mitchell of Costa Rica, Janice Senninger (Tom) of Clermont, FL and David Mitchell (Julie) of Lake Helen, FL; his daughter-in-law Vicki Mitchell of Silver Springs, FL; his stepchildren, Bonita Ramold (Gary) of Norfolk, NE, Richard Reeker (Maxine) of Pierce, NE and William Reeker (Krystal) of Elkhorn, NE; and his sister-in-law Margaret Mitchell of DeBary, FL.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren.
