He is survived by: his son Aaron Ernst (Sandy) of Lenexa, KS; his grandsons, Hunter and Hudson; his sister Mary Stevens (Tom) of Marquette; his sister-in-law Sharon Ernst of Columbus; his nieces and nephews, Courtney Wright (Rob), Sarah Ernst, Trent Stevens (Heather) and Ryan Ernst; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Rhylan, Taryn, Tylee, Shia and Lux; and his close friend Pam Henrickson of Norfolk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Norfolk Lions Club.
