He was predeceased by : his parents, Lester Andrew and Marian Learned Saathoff (Whipple); his sister Leslie Burke; and his parents-in-law, Leo and Clarice Kovanda.

He is survived by : his wife Donna Mae Kovanda; his daughters, April Mae Casper of North Platte and Lea Ann Reece (Chad) of North Platte; his grandchildren, Andon Thomas Saathoff Casper of North Platte and Arianna AnnaLea Casper of Kearney; his great grandchild Nikolai Casper; his siblings, Garret Saathoff (Sue) of Washington, Arthur Saathoff (MaryLou) of North Platte and Bonnie Smith (Bob) of North Platte; his brother-in-law Victor Kovanda (Karolyn) of Independence, MO; his child Masashi Okuyama (Arata); his grandchild Jaedon of North Platte, NE; and his son Bob Hoobler of North Platte. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Hervy attended the Hershey Baptist Church and Two Rivers Fellowship in North Platte, was a member of the Southwest Tractor Collectors, Heart of Platte Valley Tractor Collectors, American Legion Post #163, AARP, RSVP, and vice president of the board of the Lincoln County Historical Museum.

A memorial has been established to the North Platte Senior Center, and the Lincoln County Historical Museum.
