We announce the death of James Lee Dewey of North Platte, Nebraska, who passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 61. James Lee will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Dewey and Janice Dewey (Whipple); his sister Tammy Jo; his nephew Garrett; his grandparents, Marge, Eau Claire Dewey, Karl and Margaret Whipple; his aunts, Sue House and Marlene Myers; and his uncle Ed.
He is survived by: his daughter Jamie Beam (Robert) of North Platte; his sister Kandi Bailey (Mark) of North Platte; his nieces and nephews, Brent Bailey of Omaha, Landon Bailey (Chelsea) of Bennington, NE and Jordan Bailey of Holdrege; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ansel, Weslyn, Layton, Wyatt, Jaci and Karsyn; his uncle Tom Whipple (Jeanne) of Dallas, SD; and his pet Melly. He is also survived by other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Christ (700 S Willow St, North Platte, NE 69101). A burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery (12004 S Spur 56a, Maxwell, NE 69151).
