He was predeceased by : his parents, Marg Schmidt (Kraus) of North Platte, NE. and J. Schmidt Electric; and his siblings, Dan, Kevin and Mary Jo.

He is survived by : his daughter Erika; his siblings, Jennifer, Dave (Jeanne) and Craig (Marilyn); his sisters-in-law, Jackie and Darla; and his nieces and nephews, Sara (Ryan), Marcus (Kristin), Andy (Marie), Jenny, Carissa (LaMont), Katie, Aly, Ben, Mandie (Josh), Tim and Jeff.

A memorial has been established to the North Platte Catholic School Endowment Trust.
