It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kendal F. Oerter of North Platte, Nebraska, born in Fairbury, Nebraska, who passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Oerter and Maxine Oerter; his former wife Vesta Shay; and his brother Ron. He is survived by: his wife Diane Finch of North Platte; his siblings, Doyle (Kim) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Nancy Hill (Bill) of Dalhart, TX; and his children, Martin (Cindy) of Sun Lakes, AZ, Curtis (Nancy) of Hastings, NE, Thomas (Norma) of Hickman, NE, Karen Pratumwon (Pibul) of Mahtomedi, MN, Craig Manley (Brenda) of Morrill and Tracy DeLaet of Broken Bow.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Adams & Swanson Funeral Home (421 W 4th St, North Platte, NE 69101). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church (1600 W E St, North Platte, NE 69101). Ken also had 30 years of volunteer service to the North Platte RSVP (Ready to Serve Volunteer Program) where he particularly enjoyed taking meals to those in need.
