He was predeceased by : his parents, Paul Goebel and Rachelle Goebel (Fischer); and his brother Paul Jackson Goebel. He is survived by : his wife Carol Ann Comstock of Ogallala; his children, Shelly Goebel (Darrin Kilpatrick) of Ogallala and David Goebel Jr. of Ogallala; his grandchildren, Kirk Lunbery Jr., Sarah Lunbery and Isaiah Goebel; his great grandchild Zerah Fratis; and his siblings, Sandra Frame of Julesburg and Joseph Goebel of Las Vegas, NV.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of David.
