She was predeceased by: her father Don Searle; and her siblings, Rhonda and Charlie. She is survived by: her husband David Shafer of Roscoe; her mother Loretta Edwards of Ogallala; her brother Randy Searle (Lia) of Ogallala; her sons, Jeremy, Andrew, Allen and John; and her stepchildren, Casey, Mandy and Ashley. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Donna's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran school.
