It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth (Liz Goertz) Haines in Ogallala, Nebraska, who passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Elizabeth may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Elizabeth leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy Chapin and Rena Chapin; her brother Bill Chapin (Peggy); and her husband Sam Goertz. She is survived by: her children, Kevin Goertz (Acacia) of Westminster, CO, David Goertz of Hotchkiss, CO, Chris Goertz of Ogallala, NE, Lisa Goertz of Centennial, CO and Steve Goertz (Kristen). She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the United Church of Christ (302 N Spruce St, Ogallala, NE 69153).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Congregational Church, 21st Century Endowment Fund or the Keith County Foundation.
