He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Carl Maroney Sr. and Joyce Jean Maroney (Cotton); his wife Guyla Bowthorpe; and his brothers, Patrick, Jerry and Larry Maroney.

He is survived by: his daughters, Angela Swan of Elk Grove and Lisa Maroney of Chugiak, Alaska; and his siblings, Gary Maroney of Ogallala, Nebraska and Mary Munoz of Williston. He is also survived by four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
