It is with sadness that the passing of Melvin DeWayne Messersmith of Ogallala, Nebraska is shared. Melvin, born on November 30, 1936, passed away on September 19, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Hennis Messersmith and Ethel Hinton Messersmith; his son Hal (Kerry); his siblings, Ardis Polson and Ernest Messersmith; and his nieces and nephews, Cheryl Polson, Cindy Johns, Mike Sterkel and Frank Johns.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Karle; his daughters, Ann Baumgartner of Denver, Colorado and Gwen (James Rezac) of Ogallala; his grandchildren, Meghan Gephardt, Brynnley Messersmith, Sydney Sohler, Emma Trammell, Kendall White, Jackton Rezac, Ryder Rezac and Rockton Rezac; his great grandchildren, Kaiden, Evyn Gephardt, Harlow, Hayes, Haven Sohler, Scout, Wilder, Townson Trammell and Calvin White; his siblings, Mark Messersmith of Perrin, Texas and Cleo (Barthuly); and his brother-in-law Hugh Polson of Georgia.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Draucker Funeral Home (700 N Spruce St, Ogallala, NE 69153).
A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation.
