He was predeceased by: his father Herbert Smith; his former wife Margaret Smith (White); and his siblings, Lynn Runge (Gus) and Tobie Smith. He is survived by: his son Leighton Smith (Michelle); his granddaughter Margaret; his stepsons, Jeffrey Gregory (Linda), David Gregory, Michael Gregory (Lisa) and Mark Gregory (Michelle); his brother H. Scott Smith (Barbara); and his sister-in-law Corliss Smith. He is also survived by seven step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren.

Memorials will be directed by the family.
