It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Gonka of Omaha, Nebraska, born in Columbus, Nebraska, who passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Gonka and Monica Gonka (Sliva); his brothers, Randy and Dale Gonka; and his brother-in-law Walter Zych.

He is survived by : his wife Nancy Gonka of Columbus, NE; his sons, Jeff Gonka (Meg) of Omaha, NE and Chad Gonka (Liz) of Columbus, NE; his grandchildren, Clare, Grace, Mason, Sidney and Avery; his siblings, Virginia Schultz (George), Bobbi Shotkoski (John), Shirley Zych, Duane Gonka and Eileen Csukker (John); and his sister-in-law Sue Gonka.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1565 18th Ave, Columbus, NE 68601). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A vigil service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Scotus Central Catholic High School, or donor's choice.
