He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Rydstrom and Bessie Rydstrom (Doris); his daughter Elizabeth; and his siblings, Marge Hopkins (Gary), Joe Rydstrom and Dick Rydstrom.

He is survived by: his son Charles; his grandson Cole Petersen; his son-in-law Gregg Petersen of Omaha; and his sister Patricia Redetzke of Great Bend, KS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
