He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bruning and Frances Bruning (Wangler); his wife Donna Bruning; his siblings, Jean Bruning and Bernard Bruning; and his siblings-in-law, Debbie Bruning and Carlson Harvey.

He is survived by: his siblings, Elizabeth Harvey, Gerald Bruning (Sandy), Fred Bruning (Dee), Janet Bruning and Don Bruning (Mila); and his siblings-in-law, Richard Dinesen and Mary Ann Buckingham (Bill). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House or Moving Veterans Forward.
