He was predeceased by: his stepfather Larry Kohles; his mother Carol Kohles; his grandfather Hubert Romans; and his brothers, Eric and Dave Kohles.

He is survived by: his wife Amanda VanAsperen; his sons, Devin VanAsperen (Mollie Deaver) and Dawson VanAsperen; his siblings, Steve VanAsperen (Jayne), Samuel VanAsperen, DJ VanAsperen, Ami Backencamp (Mark) and Dorinda Trauernicht (Marty); his father Donald VanAsperen; his parents-in-law, Ken and Sue Skiles; and his siblings-in-law, Heather Chatterjee (Neil) and Travis Skiles (Kristen). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close friends.
