It is with sadness that the passing of Dion C. Bennett of Omaha, Nebraska is shared. Dion, born on January 12, 1938, passed away on October 5, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Dion C. Bennett to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Bennett and Doris Bennett (Malmen); his wife Janet Kay Philippi of King's Food Host; his grandson Glenn Patrick Bennett; his brother Duane; and his siblings-in-law, Edward, Albert, Thelma Philippi, Kenneth, Connie Byers and Paul Bateman.
He is survived by: his sons, Kevin (Keri) of Kearney and Todd of Omaha; his granddaughter Cristen Bennett (Tiffany Davis) of Lincoln; his siblings, Joe (Yvonne) of Shelby and Jane (Lionel Swanson) of Mesa, AZ; and his sister-in-law Beverly Bateman of Lincoln. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the FaithWestwood United Methodist Church (4814 Oaks Ln, Omaha, NE 68137). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and Janet hosted "church" every afternoon on their front porch with their neighbors in the circle, to check in, encourage and pray for each other. Those daily church services continued for years after the pandemic ended.
Memorials given to the family will be used in Dion's memory at a later date.
