He was predeceased by: his parents, Don O'Neill and Mildred "Mid" O'Neill (Dixon); his parents-in-law, Ralph and Katherine Widhelm; his siblings-in-law, Roger Fustos, Ron Rohatsch, Carl McElroy and Linda Parson; and his nephew Nick O'Neill.

He is survived by: his wife Jane O'Neill (Widhelm Lasky) of Omaha; his sons, Max O'Neill (Melissa) and Ben O'Neill (Tessa); the mother of his children Glenna O'Neill; his stepson David Laskowski of Omaha; his daughter Celeste Brown of Omaha; his siblings, Patricia Madsen (Ray), Mike O'Neill (Jean), Mary Francis, Nancy, Jim O'Neill (Jan), Steve O'Neill (Sabine Droste), Dave O'Neill (Linda) and Teresa Welsh; and his grandchildren, Isabel, Callum, Winston, Fiona and Leo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Food Bank of the Heartland, A Time to Heal Cancer Foundation, or the Blues Society of Omaha.

“Dear Jane: Mark and I were shocked and so sorry to read about Goose. We always thought we would get to know you both better because we seemed to have so much in common. As it is, we are so grateful to be your “front porch friends” and we will miss our talks when you were out walking. Goose will be sorely missed by everyone in the neighborhood.
