He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gunthert and Geraldine Gunthert (Dugger); and his children, James Paul and Mary Evelyn. He is survived by: his wife Mary Cowan; his daughters, Angela Fahrenkrug (Steven) of Treynor, IA and Sarah Koenig (Matt) of Omaha; his brother David Gunthert of Ocala, Florida; and his grandchildren, Ian, Isaac, Lily, Joshua and Micah.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tribe Church or Little White Dog Rescue.

Therefore we were related." Then we would hug and laugh. I was honored to have Douglas in my life and I want to thank his family for allowing me to care for such a precious person. He blessed me with his loving heart and I am forever changed for the better. ShaRee”
