He is survived by: his wife Jan; his children, Rick Horan (Cheryl) of Phillipsburg, PA and Cindi Horan of Omaha; his stepchildren, Deb Edwards (Brent) of Indianapolis, IN and Scott Doepke of Chandler; his grandchildren, Kelsey and Zac; his stepgrandchildren, Ally and Cash; his sister Jenelle Pearson of Spring Valley, MN; and his godson Ernest Boamah-Wiafe (Bo). He is also survived by numerous friends and his Boystown family.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Dowd Chapel (13943 Dowd Dr, Boys Town, NE 68010).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to BTNAASF Gene Horan which is a scholarship to be established in Gene's name for a track athlete.
