He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Yih-Ching and Tan Ping Liu. He is survived by: his wife Lori (Glissmann); his children, Benjamin, Megan and Meredith Matthes (Trent); his sister Irene Schnieders (Ron); and his sibling's children, Suzanne Gallagher and Matthew Schnieders. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
