He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Gerhard Ellefson and Vera M. Vitalis Ellefson; and his wife Brenda. He is survived by: his children, Carin and Brian Ellefson (Dayna); his granddaughters, Vivian and Faye Ellefson; and his sister Lorna Hunt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
