He was loved and cherished by many people including: his family James Russel Aulton (Russ); his parents, Alene Aulton and William Aulton; his siblings, Johnny and Susan Goedecke of Oklahoma; his stepdaughters, Kathy Broniecki, Kara Phillips (Clay) and Kelly Baker (Bob); and his stepgrandchildren, Kameron, Katie Vogt, Karter, Kadyn, Randi, Chad Sinclair, Grady, Jack, Quintin Vogt, Brett, Nichole Nelson, Johnny, Julane, Tyler, Kelly Baker, Penny, Sunny, Cassandra, Dustin Lungren, Payton, Matt Misuraca, Charlotte, Jordan Broniecki, Sara Nixon and Scott Phillips.
As Jane began exhibiting symptoms of Alzheimer's, Russ resigned from his job to become her full-time caregiver.
