John Bauder wrote a sympathy message

“My condolences to Gloria and the family. I knew Jay since grade school. He was three years older than me but we had a lot of interaction in small town Millard. There were only so many kids at first so you needed all ages to do much. I remember a lot of softball games in the vacant lot across the street from Rick Russell's house. Jay was a winner; a standout in sports and had the fastest car in town for years. Lots of fond memories. Goodbye, Jay.”
