With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary E. Martin of Omaha, Nebraska, who passed away on February 27, 2026 at the age of 105. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Bernard and Caroline Mary Grote (Ostdiek); her husband Thomas Paul Martin; her daughter Jane Ann; her parents-in-law, Michael and Katie Martin; her siblings, William Grote (Bill), Gerard Grote, Joseph Grote, Mark Grote, Raymond Grote, Henry Grote (Harry), Barbara Walker (Babs), Eulalia Loney (Lalie), Gertrude Osborn (Gerdie), Catherine Muschall (Cassie) and Mildred Moreland (Millie); her sons-in-law, Richard Engelbart and Jed McDermott; and her great grandchildren, Preston McDermott Schechinger and Francis Xavier Nelson.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon Engelbart of Ft. Collins, CO, Caroline Ring (Ben) of Council Bluffs, IA, Tom Martin (Judy) of Omaha, NE, Raymond Martin (Patricia) of Carrollton, TX, Larry Martin (Sue) of Howard Lake, MN, Henry Martin (Denise) of Martinsville, IN, Peter Martin (Suzanne) of Ft. Collins, CO, Elizabeth Benson (Rodney) of Beatrice, NE, James Martin (Deb) of Wilsonville, OR and John Martin (Kathy) of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Council Bluffs.
