He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard "Pat" Gottsch and Gloria Gottsch (Borowiak); and his sister Patricia. He is survived by: his wife Angie; his daughters, Rose and Raquel (Sean); his grandchildren, Case and Carson; his daughter Gatsby (David); his grandchildren, Eleanor and Sylvan; his sister Terri (Dan); his nieces and nephews, Chuck and Dillon; his sister Tammy (Al); his nieces and nephews, Andrea, Sara and Nick; his sister Toni (Tom); his nieces and nephews, T. J. and Samantha; his brother Mickey (Julie); and his nieces and nephews, Devon and Nolan. He is also survived by cousins, friends.

He made the first ever $1 million donation to the FFA (2012).
