He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Mattes and Helen Mattes (Bose); his wife Mabel Mattes; his daughter Merri Karr; and his granddaughter Emily Rose Tharp.
He is survived by: his children, Ronald R. Mattes (Cindy) of Hooper, NE, Teresa Dunaway (Ron) of Hooper, NE and Sharon Tharp (Dale) of Fremont, NE; and his stepdaughter Ruby Venditte (Louis) of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
