Irene G. Sojka Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene G. Sojka of Oneill, Nebraska, born in Omaha, Nebraska, who passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Stanley Fonfara and Genevieve Fonfara; her husband Peter Sojka; and her siblings, Richard Fonfara, Robert Fonfara and Dorothy Chapman.

She is survived by : her children, Virginia Schweers (Mark) of Des Moines, IA, Thomas Sojka (Carol) of O'Neill, NE and Patricia Pruden (Robert) of Lincoln, NE; and her sisters, Virginia Hardy of Omaha, NE and Patricia Fonfara of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or for Masses in Memory of Irene.

“Irene and Pete lived about a mile from us when we were growing up. Irene made beautiful dresses for her girls. They were prettier than any dresses in the fashion magazines. Her kids attended the one room school house where we went to school. Our mother and Irene belonged to the same clubs and were friends until my mother’s death. Our condolences go out to her family.
