He was predeceased by: his parents, Neale A. Petersen and Ruth Petersen (Koelmel); his parents-in-law, Edith and Ben Reiselman; and his siblings, Donna, Carolyn and Steve.
He is survived by: his close friend Ivan Armstrong; his children, Jay, Stacie Petersen (Lundgren), Theresa and Russell McVay; his grandchildren, Kaleb McVay, Parker McVay, Shawn McVay and Morgan Alvarado (Petersen); his great grandchildren, Payton Padilla, Brenton Alvarado and Isabella Alvarado; his grandchildren, Kevin and Deeann Coss; his great grandchildren, Tate, Cole, Ty and Natalie Coss; and his siblings, Ron (Trudy Petersen), Bill (Karen Petersen) and Connie (Gil Dunne). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
