He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. Smith and Eva Smith (Perdue); his wife Hazel Smith (Edgerton) of Cambridge; and his daughter Janniver Vala (Smith). He is survived by: his children, Tim Smith and Kristen Smith. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kahler Dolce Mortuary (441 N Washington St, Papillion, NE 68046). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Charles will be remembered as "Nebraska stoic": generally quiet and reserved, but always quick with a donation of time, money, or advice, particularly to his children or grandchildren who came to visit.
