He was predeceased by: his grandfather Jesse Langford; his parents, Marjorie Elizabeth Ernst and Wiliam Lawrence Ernst; his stepmother Trudy Ernst; his sister Linda Cmehil; his aunt Barbara Munday; his grandparents, Marjorie Langford, Alfred and Irene Ernst; his parents-in-law, Bette Ann and Ted H. Clark; and his brother-in-law Ted W. Clark.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Clark; his children, Patrick Ernst, Jeanette Decker, Weston Ernst, John Loftus, Tyrus Ernst and Param Rabari; his brother Tim; and his siblings-in-law, Tammy Ernst and Andy Cmehil. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

He continued to fight Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia for as long as he possibly could.
