He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Shemek and Mary Lou Shemek (Molczyk); his parents-in-law, Paul and Annette Johannes (Heins); and his siblings-in-law, Allan Johannes and Sharon Johannes.

He is survived by: his wife Adrienne "Jo" Shemek (Johannes); his siblings, Tom Shemek (Kathy) and Rita Huettner (Terry); and his brother-in-law Arlan Johannes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church (309 3rd St, Tarnov, NE 68642). A prayer was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
