He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard Seckman and Blanch Seckman (Mort); his siblings, Charles Seckman (Erma), Eugene Seckman (Dorothy), Maude Gless (Don), Eunice Marxsen (Leland) and Laura Kroeger (Jack); his siblings-in-law, John Lauterbach and Ellen Babb (William); and his grandson Jared Kasik.

He is survived by : his wife Lois Seckman (Busch); his children, Richard Seckman (Sandy), Peggy Wachal (Jeff) of Schuyler, Barbara McClintic (Mike) of David City and Jane Kasik (Jim) of Schuyler; and his sister Judy Lauterbach.

Richard Ehrenberger wrote a sympathy message

“Since meeting in grade school Jack has been one of my heroes… A model to try to live up to. With so many big talents, that was a big challenge. In 1951 we had both been chosen to join several other young musicians on a tour to the Big Apple.… Jack with his golden trombone and yours truly with 88 keys.. and when we each “showed our stuff“ at performances, en route, to me Jack was always number one… the biggest natural talent, and not at all puffed up about it! Parentheses… To be continued…”
