He was predeceased by: his father Manual, Sr.; his parents-in-law, Maximo and Maria Benavides; and his sister-in-law Herminia Flores. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Montanez of Bridgeport; his mother Virginia Montanez; his siblings, Manuel Montanez, Jr. (Lynn), Delf Montanez (Alvina), Ralph Montanez (Francis Galindo) and Guadalupe Barrera; and his parents-in-law, Mario Benavides (Elaine), Gracie Benavides and David Benavides.

A memorial has been established with the family for medical expenses.
