With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Lois Birkel of Seward, Nebraska, who passed away on August 27, 2023 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Albert Garhart and Rose Garhart (Hansen); her husband Leo Birkel; her son Matthew Birkel; and her brothers, James Garhart and George Garhart.

She is survived by : her children, Bonnie Luethke (Doug) of Milford, Mike Birkel (Bobbie Jo) of Garland and Joshua Birkel of Seward, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Joey Birkel (Emily), Racquel Luethke, Alex Birkel, Chase Birkel, Dustin Luethke, Caine Birkel, Leo Birkel Bailey and Alando Birkel; her great grandchildren, James and Liam Birkel; and her siblings, Terry Garhart, Tommy Garhart, Rose Mary Garhart, Karen Neal, Lucy Peterson and Carol Nyreen.
